Wind Engineering Laboratory realizes scientific-research and commercial works in four main thematic areas: Wind Engineering, Snow Engineering, Wind Energy, Applied Acoustics and Vibroacoustics.

Research works in the range of Wind Engineering:

  • Model tests of local and global wind action on the buildings
  • Model tests of pedestrians wind comfort in urban areas
  • Model tests of pollutions dispersion in urban areas
  • Wind flow visualisations of different objects in the wind tunnel
  • Wind tunnel tests of aeroelastic models
  • Numerical simulations (CFD) of wind pressure distribution on structures surfaces and wind velocity fields in urban areas taking into account aerodynamic interference
  • Analyses concerning vibration comfort of high buildings or footbridges users under dynamic wind action
  • Analyses of vehicles aerodynamics
  • Expertises, consultations, opinions concerning wind action on engineering structures

Research works in the range of Snow Engineering:

  • Model tests of shape coefficient distribution for untypical roofs in conditions of precipitation and redistribution with the use of artificial snow (grated styrofoam of respective grammage)
  • Model tests of snow participation coefficient distribution at the terrain level in urban areas taking into account aerodynamic interference with the use of artificial snow
  • Expertises of snow and icing action on the building structures

  • Investigations and numerical calculations of wind turbines efficiency
